THEATRE STUDENT HELPING IN THE EFFOT TO KEEP UGA'S DRAMA SCENE ALIVE AND WELL

YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS USE WORDS TO SEEK ‘POWER,’ TACKLE GUN VIOLENCE ON STAGES NATIONALLY, INCLUDING AT GOODMAN THEATRE

"Wyn Alyse Thomas, 18, has written three plays about gun violence since 2018...
Thomas wasn’t allowed to participate in school protests and walkouts with her classmates in response to the shooting. She wanted to do something to help her make sense of what she was feeling and of what was happening. So she wrote a play."

"With Wyn Alyse Thomas as artistic director, the Thalian Blackfriars staged its first production in three years. The second-oldest student theatre company in the country, the Thalian Blackfriars had been on hiatus due to COVID-19, which stretched through a concerning number of semesters threatening the health of live theatre at the University of Georgia..." -Jason Hawkins
